Canadian band Horsebath is Americana with a hint of swing and a folk-rock base.
Their music is a winding mix of influences: ‘70s rock touchstones (The Band, Gram Parsons, etc.), reflective singer/songwriters (Leonard Cohen, etc.) and so on. There are also shades of Tex Mex or cosmic country.
“Another farewell” is their debut album. It’s a reflection of their life on the road, rooted in the rugged landscapes of ever-changing Canada, and nurtured by a bond of love, loss and pursuit.
The band says of the record: "Everything we did was an experiment of some kind, improvising with instruments, parts, and lyrics. As a band known for our raw and energetic live performances, the songs were best captured using the classic live-off-the-floor approach."
The album is pleasant to listen to.
Overall, it's eclectic, coherent, vintage and modern at the same time, “Southern”, often sweet, somewhat psychedelic, sometimes more energetic, and authentic.
